Minesweeper! App Reviews

Great App!

Ive always enjoyed Minesweeper, and this version for Mac is great.

Godawful!!

On a scale of 1 to 10 Id give this dog a minus-15. The board is hard to read, you cant clear the areas around the number by clicking both sides of the mouse at once as you can do in the Windows version, and in general this game is a very poor wannabe of the original. Ill wait to play this in the office on a PC.

Free version

I do not see the difference between this version and the free one (minesweeper 101). also i cannot change the difficulty setting on either.

Not playable with Magic Mouse

Like other reviewers here, there seems to be something either in the game or the hardware, that makes it impossible to play with the apple Magic Mouse. Far too often about midway through the game the right click is interpreted as a left click - and thats it - game over - there is no undo, so youre just stuck. This could all be pretty easily resolved with a simple Undo feature. Until this is fixed, its unfortunately a waste of money and time and a source of frustration. One possible workaround is to turn off right clicking in the control panel, and then hold Option and click for a "right click" - Ive tried this and its ok, but I really just want to use the mouse and relax with a game of Minesweeper. Such a classic

I absolutely love this game, and this is a great version of the classic. The only thing I miss is the ability to click right and left simultaneously on a number that is touching the maximum amount of flags to undo the remainder. Other than that, its excellent!

Totally frustrating...

Played Minesweeper all the time on expert level on a PC, switched to a new iMac so I purchased this. This software doesnt seem to handle right clicks well at all (left clicks sometimes register wrong too), used to win frequently on expert level, now I am lucky if I mark 10 squares before this frustrating thing springs the mines. Tried deleting and re-installing, didnt help. This is thus far my only negative experience switching to the Mac, this software is presently defective by design.

game cheats

There is something wrong with the game. It blows up a mine at the wrong time. For instance, when a 2 is shown, it will blow up a mine where none should be. Im not making this clear, but the game cheats.

Personal preferences

Im having trouble figuring out how to change the game mode to other than beginner on my mac

Best on the app store

This app is very good, but certainly not perfect. There are large steps that it still needs to take, but its currently very polished, and the best available on the app store.

Itll Do

I think as far as game play and everything this is a very accurate and nice app. I just dont like the solid color for the unclicked squares. Not at all. I wish they were checkered more heavily or had a dark border or something. I lookes like a solid blue window to me. Thats my only complaint but it isnt a small one so thats why it is only 4 stars.

tg

Does exactly what it should. Worth the price.

I miss the questio-mark (?) marker

I miss a common feature, available in other versions: a temporary, hypothetical marker ("?") so you can analyse a situation without the risk of signaling wrong mines.

Pretty good!

Great app, my only complaint is that sometimes the right click is off and sets off a mine instead of flagging it. But that might just be me.

Would be perfect, but...

…like others have said, often at some point usually in the middle or late in the game the "right-click-flag" function (at least on the magic mouse) misfires as a left-click -- therefore triggering a mine, ending your game. EXTREMELY frustrating. Any chance this can be fixed? The right-click doesnt misfire in ANY other application…I suppose I could try the option-click method, but it would definitely take a while to get used to playing in this fashion.

I Love Minesweeper

I play this game too much. Its really awesome, and I havent found any glitches in the program thus far! Great job!

Downloading Mac OS X created a delay in flagging mines..

Ever since I installed Mac OS X, there has been a lag in flagging mines.. I really like this app and have continued to play it, but until this is addressed it makes it difficult to play at the speed at which I would like to.

Great!!

I love this minesweeper. It is a good buy.

It’s alright…..

First, there are issues with trying to left click to mark a mine, and it is registered as a left click thus triggering the mine - very annoying. Also, there are flaws in the algorithm used to lay out boards, a board should be winnable by logic entirely yet there are times when guessing is required, this is very annoying if you spend 5-6 minutes on a large board and it comes down to a guess. Another issue I’ve found (which is somewhat rare) is that a mine can occur in a place where a number is required to go. For example, I had a game where I had 5 mines on the bottom of the grid, so that there were 3 mines across, and then two below that with a blank space in between them and below that was the edge of the screen. The rules of minesweeper dictate that the blank should have been a 5, however it was a mine. Annoying- that’s the best word I can use to describe the bugs/flaws of this app.

Just pay for it

It’s exactly what you’re looking for.

Right cllick on macbook air is a problem

I generally like the app, but I cannot get the right click to flag a potential mine to work with any consistency, it sometimes flags a field that I intended to clear and, as others have said, it sometimes results in triggering a bomb, rather than flagging a square as a potential bomb. It does test my memory (and patience more than need be) without using that feature, but they really need to fix this.
